Module Assessment and Module Marking Moderation System

Objective

  1. Improve the quality level of teaching evaluation for faculties
  2. Provide multiple references for faculties to improve curriculum design
  3. One of the regular projects in the internal quality assurance system to continuously improve student learning experience
  4. Provide important analytical data for long-term improvement of institution quality levels
  5. Provide important evidence for institutional accreditation and institutional quality audit

About the System

It is included two parts:

1. Module Assessment Moderation (MAM) (5 Sections)

Conduct double moderation for exam papers, marking scheme, standard answer script, etc. before given to students for assessment

2. Module Marking Moderation (MMM) (5 Sections)

Conduct double moderation and comparison for marked exam papers, assignments, project reports, and portfolios, etc.

Points to Note

  1. Before moderation, Faculties have to provide the list & CVs of external moderators to QAO for approval & employment
  2. Before moderation, Faculties have to appoint module examiner and internal moderator (especially for those module with many teachers)
  3. Module examiner is suggested to prepare final year/semester examination paper/project question/backup examination paper in advance
  4. After moderation is started on the platform, any termination action would be informed to and overseen by QAO; Faculties have to review and follow up the termination action with Committee Board
  5. Everyone should pay highest attention to confidentiality. Using the platform in public internal network is prohibited. No one should disclose the final year/semester examination paper, project question, backup examination paper, marking scheme, etc. before they are provided to students for assessment as they are all top-secret materials
  6. The final year/semester paper/project must be conducted MAM before given to students for assessment, and only specific labeled (generated by the platform) final year/semester paper/project file could be used for assessment
